- Support H.R. 2306, the "Ending
Federal Marijuana Prohibition
Act" -
Tell Congressman Lamar Smith
(District 21 of Texas) to stop
taking money from the alcohol
industry until Congress passes
federal bill H.R. 2306, the
"Ending Federal Marijuana
Prohibition Act."
This bill
will allow states the option of
regulating marijuana like alcohol
without disruption from the
federal government.
However, being firmly in bed with
Big Alcohol, Congressman Smith
refuses to allow a hearing for H.R. 2306 in the House
Judiciary Committee for which he
serves as Chairman.
Congressman
Smith has already kicked off his 2012
election campaign by accepting
$24,500 from political action
committees and other lobbyists
representing the alcohol
industry. Among the U.S. House
of Representatives, only House
Majority Leader Eric Cantor and
Speaker of the House John
Boehner have accepted more
alcohol industry contributions
during this election cycle.

Every
objective study on marijuana has
concluded it is much safer than
alcohol both for the user and
for society. Our federal
government should not be wasting
billions of dollars annually
enforcing marijuana prohibition,
a destructive effort that only
serves to protect
alcohol industry profits and
drive more people to drink.
